During the 17th century Japanese wood block prints appeared in present -day Tokyo.  These images depicted in vivid fashion the pleasurable side of life and for that reason they are known as "ukiyo-e", pictures from the floating world.

The images of graceful geishas with faces painted white as a mask inspired me tremendously.  My interpretation added a little humor, most of the time in the form of a bunny companion to the geisha.

I'm asked, why a bunny?  Because it's so funny, the juxaposition.  This series allowed to to learn a lot subconciously.  In the end I realized I wasn't just painting a bunny, that bunny is my self portrait.
